Animal Place Barnyard Book Signing and Tour

Vacaville, CA - May 21, 2008 -- Animal Place will hold a farm tour and book signing on Saturday May 31. Visitors 10 years of age and older will meet Nicholas the calf, Aiden the sheep, Flo the goat, and scores of other animals, including rabbits, turkeys, chickens, and pigs. Each comes with a story that will touch your heart and deepen your appreciation for all life. After the tour, Mark Hawthorne, author of Striking at the Roots: A Practical Guide to Animal Activism, and Erin Williams and Margo DeMello, authors of Why Animals Matter: The Case for Animal Protection, will read from their books and share their experiences advocating for the protection of farmed animals.

Mark Hawthorne has written for the magazine Satya and is a contributing writer for VegNews. His book Striking at the Roots: A Practical Guide to Animal Activism, is an easy-to-use toolkit for both novice and experienced animal activists.

Margo DeMello, former director of the House Rabbit Society, is a renowned expert on rabbit behavior. Erin Williams has been active in the animal protection movement for over a dozen years, and currently works for the Humane Society of the United States on their Factory Farming Campaign. Their book Why Animals Matter: The Case for Animal Protection, is a comprehensive examination of the ways animals are used and treated throughout society.

Both books will be available for purchase. Everyone who attends will be entered into a raffle for a barn door prize - both books and six cookies from Alternative Baking Company.
