Reviews

Why Animals Matter cover Striking at the Roots
"A must-read for both the veteran activist and the person who wants to get involved but isn't quite sure how to get started. I wish it had been available when I got started as an animal activist, and I'm certainly glad it's here now. It ranks with the best guides to animal advocacy that have ever been written."
- Norm Phelps, author of The Longest Struggle: Animal Advocacy from Pythagoras to PETA

Why Animals Matter
"Erin Williams and Margo DeMello have written a compact and compelling treatise on how animals suffer in institutional settings and why people of conscience should take note and take action. They have put together an overwhelming case for a new ethic in dealing with animals, and my greatest hope is that it will have a vast readership."
- Wayne Pacelle, President & CEO, The Humane Society of the United States
